Piazza Santa Trìnita to Via delle Terme

It’s a short walk, but, to my mind, one of the more wonderful ones in Florence, featuring looming medieval towers, trendy shops, street art, and a touching small square (mentioned in an earlier video).

I pause for a bit at Piazza del Limbo, which is named for the cemetery that once stood here. In some Christian theologies, Limbo is a kind of borderland between Heaven and Hell where children who die before baptism reside. In this space in Medieval Florence, children who died before baptism were buried.

The piazza is adjacent to Chiesa dei Santi Apostoli; it’s claimed that Charlemagne founded this church, but he didn’t. It’s an 11th century church, which makes it one of the oldest churches in Florence. The walk ends at Via delle Terme (the site of Roman baths).
