Miriam Gershow: “The Local News”

Miriam Gershow’s debut novel, The Local News, which explores the aftermath of a young man’s disappearance through histhelocalnews4 teenaged sister’s eyes, hits the stands on February 24th (you can pre-order a copy here).

Critics have long lauded Ms. Gershow’s short fiction, so it should be unsurprising that The Local News has already garnered praise from Publisher’s Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal.

Writing in The New York Times, Janet Maslin draws attention to the novel’s “urgency and heft.” She notes, in particular, the work’s “deftly heartbreaking coda.” Marie Claire calls The Local News “a darkly humorous tale of loss.”
