Lungotevere Castello is a stretch of the Lungotevere in Rome that runs along the Tiber River between Ponte Umberto I and Ponte Sant’Angelo.
It takes its name from the Castel Sant’Angelo, a historic fortress that was originally built as a mausoleum for the Emperor Hadrian. Over the centuries, it has also served as a papal residence, treasure, jail, and fortress.
Lungotevere Castello, a scenic, historic part of Rome’s riverfront, features beautiful views of the river and surrounding historic structures; it’s a wonderful place to sit and relax or to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Tiber.
