Is “Tradition” That Bad?

With a hat tip to Notes of a Consummate Dabbler, I offer “Beauty and the Best,”an article by Theodore Dalrymple featured in this month’s New English Review. Dalrymple suggests that a, “professional caste of cognoscenti [. . .] have consistently applauded the trivialisation of art and its relegation to the status of financial speculation at best, and a game for children showing off to the adults at worst.”

Provocation: whether Jeff Koons, the master of kistch, should have been permitted a show at Versailles (what would Adorno say?).
