If, some late afternoon, you sit in the square facing the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, you will watch its coloring shift. It seems to slide into shades of orange, pink, and blue, always exuding warmth.
When there, in Florence, one of my favorite activities is to sit at a table in Piazza del Duomo, with wine or Campari and soda (as much as I enjoy it, I only ever seem to drink Campari in Italy), and look at the cathedral. To watch it shift and change even after the streetlamps come on.
